Hon. Justice Dr. Adonyo speaking at the farewell ceremony
The Judicial Officers at the Commercial Division of the High Court turned up fully robed on Friday 19February, 2021 as they saw off Justices: Hon. Justice Dr Henry Peter Adonyo(formerly the head of the Division) and Hon. Justice Boniface Wamala.
The two were recently transferred to other stations, Hon. Justice Dr Adonyo to Soroti as Senior Resident Judge and Hon. Justice Wamala who is now at the Civil Division.
Each of the Judges and Registrars at the Court came fully robed as a sign of respect -wig in tow- as they reminisced on how the two had impacted their lives.
The Judges at the Division described Hon. Justice Dr Adonyo as a seasoned leader and manager who can also be referred to as a living encyclopedia for facts and history about Judiciary. On the other hand, Justice Wamala was described as a hardworking judge whose humility precedes him.
"In just one year we have learnt and registered a lot of success from case backlog reduction, the establishment of working systems, to the installation of modern ICT equipment in courts and offices," said Mr Abraham Mpairwe, a systems administrator.
In his tenure as the Head of the Division, Hon. Justice Dr Adonyo introduced several reforms and innovations which progressively brought about efficiency and improved service delivery.
Among the achievements registered for the court in 2020 included the furnishing of Judicial officers' chambers with furniture, TV screens, microwaves, air conditioning Condition fans, and refrigerators. Others include installation of modern ICT equipment, an Audio-Visual Facility, cabling and network extensions, reorganization of the Archives, court case census, renovation of the court building and beautification of the court premises.
Hon. Justice Dr Adonyo first served at the Court between 2013 and 2015 and went on to serve in other capacities before coming back as Head of the Division.
At the same event ,Registrars; HW Suzan Kanyange and HW Ajio Hellen, who left the Division at the beginning of this year, were also appreciated for their service.
Aside from sharing memorable experiences, the Judicial Officers cut a cake and gifted the two Judges for input they had made at the Court.
